What Trent McDuffie and Jaylen Watson Bring to the Rams
The Rams’ season ended in the NFC Championship Game with Sam Darnold completing 25 of 36 passes for 346 yards, 3 touchdowns, and 0 interceptions against them.
Jaxon Smith-Njigba caught 10 passes for 153 yards and a touchdown, and Seattle had 2 completions of 40+ yards.
L.A. already knew their secondary, and specifically the cornerback position, was an issue. The season-ending loss in Seattle left no doubt.

Early in the 2026 offseason, they’ve shown that they aren’t messing around. They’re doing what they can to take advantage of Matthew Stafford’s remaining window, and they’ve been aggressive in making changes to their biggest area of need.
Last week, they traded one of their two 1st-round picks in this year’s draft (29th overall) and 3 other picks to the Chiefs for cornerback Trent McDuffie.
Then on Monday, they signed Jaylen Watson, another former Chiefs cornerback (who happened to be drafted the same year as McDuffie).
Watson is a long corner (6’2”) who predominantly plays on the outside. A 7th-round pick in 2022, he’s developed into a quality player over the last 4 seasons.
