The read option run game isn't as effective as a decade ago D ends slow play it. Only if the pass game is truly dangerous will it be run into light boxes and 2 deep safeties presnap.

That sald, is the under center game even viable with this OL? Malik Willis is being thrown to wolves for an upcoming loaded QB class. He has to be GREAT in 2026 to prevent the top 5 pick in 2027 from taking his job. Even then the economics might mean taking the Heisman contender QB and trading Willis for more picks to continue a rebuild with the freed cap space and extra first round picks he'll be worth as a great QB.

Good points about the read option.

I don't know why they couldn't. Figure they'll want to get the under-center run game going with Achane and play-action off of it. Boot with Malik, etc.

Whatever they do, it has to center around Achane and Willis's legs...

Think this OL can do that? We saw September Chicago wanting to be under center...and the OL wasnt up to the task. We didn't know the work in progress would payoff bigtime as the No. 1 run game of Oct-Jan; which helped make everything else work.

A bad OL with an under center offense is unwatchable; like the bottom 10 offenses of 1990s-2000s. It's worse to watch then anything...at least a 3WR shotgun offense with a bad OL can be as fun to watch as the Burrow Bengals.

I don’t think this offense will be able to do much of anything to be honest. Good point about Chicago…
