Jared Goff has quietly been playing some pretty damn good football to start the 2026 season. He’s completed 67% of his passes for 297 yards per game, with 12 touchdowns, 0 interceptions, and a 111.3 passer rating.

The Lions also have the #1 scoring offense entering Week 6.

That said, this past weekend against the Cardinals didn’t start out so well. The Lions went three-and-out on each of their first 3 drives. Goff was sacked 3 times on those drives, and Detroit had negative total yards in the first quarter.

It didn’t help that the Cardinals were throwing the kitchen sink at the Lions. Just check out this triple-A-gap blitz that they used to get to Goff on Detroit’s first 3rd down of the game:

The Cardinals’ defensive disguises, pressure, and post-snap movement were huge contributors to Detroit’s early ineffectiveness:

Goff kept his composure, though, and the floodgates opened up in the 2nd quarter, starting with a 4th-and-3 conversion on the Lions’ 4th drive of the game.

Once again, Arizona was trying to show a pre-snap pressure look that the Lions wouldn’t be able to make sense of until after the snap:
