Coaching Staff

Head Coach: Sean Payton
Offensive Coordinator: Joe Lombardi
Defensive Coordinator: Vance Joseph
Special Teams Coordinator: Darren Rizzi

2024 Summary (W-L Record: 10-7)

The 2024 season was a pleasant surprise for the Broncos. Rookie quarterback Bo Nix exceeded expectations, the defense was one of the best in the league just a year after allowing 70 points in a game, and Denver reached the playoffs for the first time in 9 seasons.

The defense was simply outstanding last year under defensive coordinator Vance Joseph. They won primarily on the strength of their pass rush, which finished 2nd in the NFL in pressure % and first in sacks.

That success was driven by their aggressiveness. Denver blitzed at the 3rd-highest rate in the NFL, and even when they weren’t blitzing, their defensive line was giving protections fits by stunting regularly (5th in stunt % according to

Cody Alexander
of MatchQuarters).

On the other side of the ball, Sean Payton did an excellent job of putting Bo Nix in position to succeed. The offense was heavily schemed (more on that in a bit) and the Broncos did a tremendous job of protecting their rookie quarterback. They finished the year 2nd in pressure % allowed and 3rd in sacks allowed.

Things got so good at one point that the Broncos went through a 10-game stretch where Nix had a 16-2 TD-INT ratio and completed over 66% of his passes. Unsurprisingly, Denver won 7 of those games.

Nix ultimately finished the year with 29 touchdown passes, 4 rushing touchdowns, and he even caught a touchdown pass.

With most of the offense returning, including the entire offensive line, there’s no reason to believe Nix can’t take another big step in his development this season.
