2025 Summary (W-L Record: 8-9)
The Ravens entered the 2025 season with Super Bowl expectations, but things very quickly went south. They blew a 15-point lead in the 4th quarter of their season opener against the Bills and soon found themselves in a 1-5 hole just a third of the way through the season.
While they battled back to put themselves in position to win the AFC North, their season ended when kicker Tyler Loop missed a 44-yard field goal against the Steelers on what would be the final play of the John Harbaugh era.
Injuries certainly played a role in the Ravens’ surprising 8-9 season. None were bigger than the one to defensive tackle Nnamdi Madubuike, who missed all but the first two games of the season.
That played a huge role in the defensive line not being able to generate any pressure all year. Baltimore finished 28th in pressure % and sacks. And the inability to get to the quarterback led to them giving up the most 20-yard completions in the NFL.
Lamar Jackson also missed 4 games and battled through injuries all season. He wasn’t quite himself after his 2 straight MVP-caliber seasons that helped carry this team in 2023 and ‘24.
A year after throwing for 245.4 yards per game, Jackson averaged just 196. Despite missing just 4 games, his touchdowns passes were cut in half from 41 to 21.
Most jarring was the drop off in his contributions on the ground. Jackson rushed for a career-low 349 yards one year after picking up 915.
The spark was missing from this offense, and the end result was the Ravens missing the playoffs for just the second time since Jackson became the starter.
Baltimore ultimately decided to move on from John Harbaugh, ending his 18-year run with the team. They hired former Chargers defensive coordinator Jesse Minter to take over the reins.
